About Me

Hi, I’m Camila— I’m a cookbook author and romance novel writer.

I I’ve published Macaron School and Fantastic Filled Cupcakes, and I run the food blog Pies and Tacos, where I share mostly dessert recipes.

Now I’m also writing romance novels. I’m currently working on the Sunfalls series, a trilogy story set in a small town in Massachusetts (When the Sun Falls, Dancing in the Dark and a the third book’s title is in the works).

I created this website to compile all my work as an author in both genres. Think of this space as a cozy bookstore-slash-café. Find a corner or a nook, stay, come back—I’ll always have something sweet waiting for you.

I grew up in São Paulo, Brazil. Just down the road from my house was my grandma’s bakery. I always loved baking and being around desserts. I also loved being around books. At school, you’d usually find me in the library.

In 2017, I was living in New York when I started my food blog, Pies and Tacos, as a hobby. I was working as a waitress at the time—also as a baker at a deli, and doing cleaning jobs.

I liked writing, and I liked creating recipes. A blog felt like a way to bring both into practice. I struggled to learn food photography and videography at first, but ended up loving those too.

In 2019, I started dedicating myself full-time to the blog.
I published my first cookbook, Fantastic Filled Cupcakes, in 2020, and Macaron School in 2022. Between both books, we’ve sold over 30,000 copies.

In 2021, I moved to Florida, where I later created the Macaron School Course, which launched in 2023.

Then, on a rainy Tuesday in November 2024, I sat down to edit some videos for my blog—but instead, I opened a Google Doc and started typing a story. One I had tried writing many times before. I still have those half-started drafts—some are only a sentence long, some a few pages. None of them finished.

But that Tuesday, the story poured out. I wrote the first full draft of When the Sun Falls in four days—through lunch, through dinner, until 2 a.m.

Halfway through it, I realized book two was already waiting. I’m almost done with that one now.

The desserts and recipes aren’t going anywhere—they’re still deeply tied to my creative process. There are several recipes connected to both books that I’ll be releasing, either on my blog or here. Maybe even as a book, bringing everything full circle.

I’m so excited to be sharing all of this with you.

Why I Write & Bake

I love baking and writing for the same reason. They’re both about transformation—whether it’s a bowl of flour turning into a cake, or a character with a messy past finding their way toward something better.

I started baking really early. I loved watching my grandma make strawberry tarts, one of the signature desserts of her bakery. She’d move through a line of small tart pans, methodically pressing the dough into the bottoms and sides, trimming the edges while chatting with my mom.

The bakers would give us pieces of French bread dough to play with. I loved the smell of yeast, the flour everywhere.

I loved staring at the display case out front: sweet breads, carrot cake with brigadeiro frosting, mini tarts, pudim—always fully stocked.

At home, I’d pretend I was doing the same, learning to bake the desserts I’d one day put in my own display case.

Baking is a way of adding beauty and sweetness to the world—and that’s why I love it. Plus, it’s delicious. It’s art anyone can make.

I found the same sense of purpose in storytelling—building emotional journeys that are also about growth and reinvention.

My mission as an author is to write romance novels that explore vulnerability and second chances.

As a food creator, I share dessert recipes that are both stunning and achievable—designed to inspire confidence and creativity in the kitchen.

Through both, my goal is to create a space where people are inspired to bake, to read, and to create.
